Unseen - Chapter six

Next few days: Nothing really happened, was kinda boring.

Day later: Nigel and I had another conversation, it went like this;
Nigel: "You look gorgeous today" Me: Looks down at skinnys & pink blouse and blushes "Thanks" Bell rings Me: Mutters "See yar later" and then we depart.

Another day later:

Since Kit became a suspect. Most of the school scurried away like frightened mice, which I guess they were. So this left Kit with only five friends, I know that sounds like your normal amount of friends. Yet the whole school used to love Kit and he was so nice to everyone.

So here we sat in the cafeteria, in the neglected corner. Lila on my right, with Kit beside her and Jo on the other side of the table infront of me, with Zoe to her left (her bestfriend and she's only convinced her to trust Kit again) and next to her was Cody (Kit's bestmate)

Cody was an athlete and like most guys, his plate was stacked high with junk food. "Kit-kat, are you gonna abandon us footballers? I know everythings tough for you at the moment, but dude, with out you we're seriously gonna loose."

Why do guys always talk about sports? "Wait, did you just call him Kit-kat?"

Cody grinned "Yeah babe, that's been his nickname since primary school. You know old habits never fade." and leaning over the table, he ruffles Kit's sunny hair.

"Hey, cut that out." Kit complains and restyles his hair with his fingers.

Lila wasn't paying any attention to the conversation, as she was staring with lovingly eyes at a stunning turquoise promdress in a fashion magazine. "I love this dress, I must get it for the prom."

My eyes however were glued to the dress alongside it. A purple knee lengh dress, with a boned bodice. "No, this is the one." I poined at my chosen dress and decided it will be mine soon.

"Karla, did you hear a thing I just said?" I glance up to see Cody's eyes oggling my breasts. Fastening the buttons on my cardigan, I say "no".

"Well babe, I just asked you to the prom." I've never regarded this before, but Cody really does speak alot and manages to eat double the amount of everyone else while doing so.

"Code, she's already going with someone else."

I look to Kit, who seems to be unhappy. Except hasn't he been like that for a couple of days now? Yeah, it must just be what going on at the moment. "Kit's right, I am going with someone." I really need to pluck up my courage to ask Nigel or I'm gonna be dead. All this lying is not good for me.

"Why do all the pretty girls, appear to be taken."

Zoe giggled and says shyly "I'll go to the prom with you, if you want. I've never been to a prom and ours is not till next year."

He examines her over, like in some beauty contest to see what she had that others don't. If what was expressed on his face anything to judge by, it came across as approving. Well who wouln't, she was a night goddess, with silky black hair tumbling over caramel exposed shoulders. "Princess, we've got a deal." Taking her hand he kisses it, making her burst out giggling.

"We've got company." Jo indicates with her head, to my left. Following her gaze, I see Nigel indeed coming over and he's looking at me, yeeks. I get up unsteadily to my feat and walk the small distance to him.

His lopsided smile, made my insides melt. Ok Karla, this is a good time to ask him. Don't do anything stupid just ask him. "Will-you-go-to-the-prom-with-me?"

His chuckling, was a bit off putting, was he laughing at me or with me or something else? "Thats funny, I came here to ask exactly the same thing."

"Really?" I didn't wait for an answer, as I flung my arms around him and I didn't care about the group of girls that were unmistakably talking about us.

Unseen - Chapter five

A day later

Yestday breaktime, I tried to get Lila on her mobile. I rang her fifteen times, but everytime it went to voice mail. Later, when I got home I then tried her house phone. Her mother picked up saying she hadn't seen her since the morning, well hearing this scared the hell out of me. Seeing that I was not the only one who had a link in victims to be, Lila was also blonde and fitted their (i.e. newspapers) description. That night I couln't go to sleep, I didn't have a clue where my best friend was. And I did go over to her house (across from my house, we're neighbours) to make sure she didn't make her mother lie to me, well I can tell you there was no lie, Lila wasn't there. So when I finally fell asleep, you wouldn't be surprised to hear I had the worst nightmare you could possibly think of....

Lila's corpse lay mangled and twisted in an unnatural position, her skin chalky white with her light blue eyes staring into nothingness. A pool of red liquid poured from her chest onto the forest floor. A metalic smell was strong to my nostrils and extremely sickening. Standing over her body was Kit, dagger held in his hand and a evil grin on his ugly face.

I woke up screaming into my pillow, sweat dripping from my brow and more in my sheats sticking to my body.

When I got to school I discovered Lila was absent again, this made me groan as the images from last nights dream flashed into my mind. Blanking them out, I strolled through the hall way. I recognized Jo (from the year below me and a witness to the first death) her arms were wrapped around her legs and she was sitting on the floor, smudged eyeliner plastered to her face and snivelling into a hanky.

Now what happened to her? Don't tell me it's bullying. It can't be bullying, someone who looks like Lara Croft wouldn't be bullied. Maybe she observed another crime. I'm astonished I didn't get a headache from so many thought in only a few seconds.

Getting down onto my knees, which would look hysterical to passer bys, was extremely difficult due to my mini skirt. "Urh...Jo, what's wrong?" I crawled over to her and gave her a bear hug.

"All this drama is making me emotional. They all say it's Kit, but he wouldn't have done it." She choked "He wouldn't hurt a fly and the police are clueless to who the real murderer is. It's all very....horrifying."

"Are you a 100% sure it wasn't Kit? I know he looks like a soppy puppy, yet isn't Puss-in-boots dangerous and adorable...Um well you know what I mean."

If looks could kill, I'm sure I would be dead. "Kit's my brother! I know for sure it wasn't him!"

"Oh, you two look so different....sorry." I muttered, think, think, distraction, distraction...."Well I'm gonna phone Lila, I don't know where she is."

"Lila? She's at my house."

"What she's at your house?" Why though, why would she be there?...Dumass, she's with Kit, duh. I didn't realize till it was to late, that I had grabbed hold of Jo's shoulders and was shaking her.

She shoved me off and before she could tolerate any more, I was sprinting down the hallway. With delight and the intentions to bunk off for the very first time.

Ouch...It is so unlike me to hit awall, but walls arn't soft and warm...are they? My gaze wandered over a six packed torso (covered up with black cotten, but still visible underneith) that belonged to a male. My eye's drifted up this exceedingly tall, broad shouldered figure and hovered at his slender lips. He chuckled to him self, as I arrived at his slanted grey eyes. He was gorgeous, he was Nigel. Taking in this little fact, I flinched backwards. "I'm sorry, I should have been looking where I was going."

"No no, it was all my fault. I should of been able to dodge you." He teased.

"Huh, huh" Just staring at him makes me dizzy. Imagine what a kiss would do.

"You appear to be in a hurry. Do you need any assistance?" He raised one eyebrow.

Perfect I thought sarcastically, so just being with him erases my memory. Clearing my throat, I say "Nope. You should go to english, Mrs Smith would give you lots of torment if you didn't."

"Sure if that's what you want. Well hope to see you soon." He winks, then disappears around the corner.

Sighing dreamingly, I saunter the short distance to Kit's semidetached house. When I approach his blue door, I instantly think of the movie Notting Hill, it also seems to be the only blue door in this neighbourhood. I had my fist in midair (about to knock) when the door gets thrown open.

"Karla? I thought that might be you. Jo, just phoned and said she reckons you'd come." Lila said.

"Your alive!" I screamed with joy and enclosed my arms around her. Tears sprang to my eyes and I mumbled. "I thought you got your self murdered. I've been worried sick, never do that again."

"You sounds like my mum." She tittered.

"Please be more careful."

Kit comes into view and folds his arm around Lila's waist. "Hey, do you want to come in? and I could make tea?"

Hmmm...Kit really doesn't seem like a serial killer. "Yeah that would be great."

Unseen - Chapter four

Another week later

Over the past week, Nigel and I passed each other on our way to lessons, sharing secret smiles and made eye contact. This happened quite a lot and gave me hope.

Outside hail stones lashed against the window pane. I slumped in my chair, munching on dry tasteless toast. Spread across the table was the local news paper, with the headlind...

Another Teen found Dead!

This caught my eye, so I decided to read more.

'Last week, a bunch of teenagers came across a dead girl in the local secondary school. Yesterday, a mother found another school student lying lifeless in the park.

There is a connection between the two, they both are sixteen year old girls, go to the local secondary school and are attractive blondes.

From the pattern, the police believe there's a serial killer on the loose.

At the moment, the forensics are doing tests on the bodies, to see what could of killed them.

If you know anything about their deaths, please contact the police immediately.'

After reading this distressing news, as I too fitted into their category of victims, I tossedthe paper aside and heading to the cloak room, getting my sparkly pumps off the shoe rack and putting them on my feet, grabbing my hadbag from the rail and going out of the front door.

Lila stood with her arms crossed over her chest. Staring into the distance, just outside my gate. Waiting, like every day, to go to school.

It had seemed she had slipt into her happy land, where ever that may be. I'm guessing with Kit, they weren't just going to the prom together, they had also started going out and all she could ever talk about was him.

I giggled, as I snuck up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, then ducked behind the gate. She jumped, looking behind her self, then frowning when she saw me.

"What?" I said, all innocently.

She did her dramatic sigh. Lila, would make an excellent actress and she knows she's good at it, one of her many talents. "Lets just go." Was all she said.

When we arrived at school, we found the halls buzzing with teenagers. Some were crying, however they all were very talkative. I attempted to eavesdrop in their conversation, yet since everyone was talking over each other, I didn't get all the dialogue. Just a few words like: Alibi, murder and Kit. Which totally confused me.

Locating Mel over by the founting, Mel's the prize gossip at our school, I shoved my way through the crowded room and believe me that is very hard, when everybody is pushing into you from all sides.

"Hi Mel" I place my arm around her shoulder and steer her over to an empty corner, with Lila tagging along. "Soo...What's everyone nattering on about?"

She glanced at me, then her gaze landed on Lila's and stayed there. "You haven't heard? Well the dirt is...Kit's the murderer." Seeing Lila's startled look, she added. "Ok, they don't know for sure. But everybody is convinced it's him. It's his alibi, you see. On both occasions he was absent. First one he wasn't at lunch, he said he went to the toilet. Second, about the time of the murder in the park, he's told everybody he was jogging." She gets a packet of fags out of her trouser pocket and taking one, she lights it and puffs.

Lila sobs "It wasn't him, he wouldn't do such a thing!"

"Honey, there's more facts he could of silenced those poor girls. Diana..." She broke of and gave me a dirty look, for attempting to hide my giggles with my hand. It's just the name Diana sounds like she was asking to die. "Diana, was Kit's exgirlfriend, you know the girl you found in the hall way. She and Kit broke up several months ago. Apparently he hit her for calling him a jerk..."

"Why did she call him a jerk." I asked.

"She called him a jerk, for sleeping with her bestfriend Em. He declines it ever happened. Em just happens to be the dead girl in the park." She takes another puff and eyes us.

Lila has her hands on her hip's and stomps her foot, like in a movie when the heroine isn't getting her way. "I know it wasn't him! And if you guys wont believe me I'm out of here." and with that she barges her way through, the stampeded to the emergency exit, crying all the way.

Unseen - Chapter three

Week later

I examined my self in the mirror. My golden ringlets hang loosly down to my waist, that framed my heart shaped face and my emerald eyes peered through long lashes.

My make-up lay scattered on the worktop. Since I couldn't find the lipgloss in my hand bag, I emptied the contents out. Now that I had finished my make-up session, I placed it all back in.

Lila slouched against the cubical, filing her nails and waffling on about prom. After Kit asked me, he then asked Lila who said yes and I'm starting to think she's got a crush on him. Seeing that she hasn't stopped talking about him.

"Ok now that you've got a partner for prom, why don't we organize a way to make Nigel notice me." I interrupted.

Lila gazed into my eyes and frowned. "And how are we sappose to do that? He's quite perculiar and I have no idea what he's thinking."

I burst out laughing at her silly statement. "And you can read other peoples minds, Lila?"

"It's just he camouflages his emotions. Other people display their emotions by facial expressions and body movement."

I rolled my eyes. Lila may look airheaded but really she isn't. She had a gift of understanding people.

A couple of girls began screaming, fairly nearby. Lila and I exchanged glances, then bolted out of the lavatory. The hall way was practically empty except six girls (every one else should be in the cafeteria) The girls were huddled around something and as we came closer and barged our way through, we found out that something was a limp body resembling a peaky but pretty rag doll. I stood there traumaticed and then my brain went overload. "Is...she...dead?" I asked, though I had a queasy feeling I already knew.

The girl nearest to me nodded and started trembling. "Jo's...gone...to...get...a..teacher." She said in between sobs.

As she said that, Mrs Smith came jogging over to us, along with Jo tagging behind. She got down on her knees and inspected the body, putting her ear up to her heart and feeling for her pulse. "Hmm...Yes I suppose she's dead."

"Miss, we found her like this and when we saw she wasn't breathing. We totally freaked out...How do you suppose it happened?" Jo said.

Mrs Smith scowled. "I don't no if it's accidental or suicidal or if someone murdered her. But I do know I have to phone the police, the ambulance and her parents. And I imagine todays lessons shall be cancelled."

Half an hour later

Every one now knew about her death and the whole school was getting sent home.

Lila and I were neighbours so we both walked home together. We were both oddly quiet after todays event, not our normal talkative selves.

It was a cold, crispy day, as we trudged over snow covered paths, carefully so not to slide over on to our bottoms. Snow flakes came trickling down from up in the heavens and in the distance we could hear sirens that were heading over to the school.

Looking up I spotted Nigel over on the other side of the streat. He was wearing black from head to toe, his hands in his pockets and hood upon his head. On cue, as if he felt me looking at him, he made eye contact. My heart did a somersault and made me blush, quickly I broke the connection. I was overjoyed for him finally seeing me.

Unseen - Chapter two

The previous year every little feature, I've memorized of by heart. It was clear as day in my mind, like the entire year was all compacted into only yesterday.

I allowed the past to capture me once more and drag me back to those memories.

I had my back to everyone, as I investigated my locker. Tossing aside my bliss magazine and several notepads. Where was that reched english book? I contemplated. I really needed that book, on the account of Mrs Smith our english teacher, was one scary lady who would give you detention, in a blink of an eye, for a week just by saying one word in her class with out her permission. Burrowing deeper in amongst all my clutter, I found it discarded at the bottom of the locker. I sighed with relief and scooped it up.

"Karla" A guy called from behind me. I swirled around at my name being spoken and came face to face with Kit. He was a jock and appeared like one as well, with the traditional blue eyes and blond hair. "I know it's a month away, but I wanted to ask in advance..." He combed his hair with his fingers, a habit I realized he does when nervous. "Well what I'm asking is will you go to the prom with me?"

I hesitated, avoiding his eyes and gazed at my feet instead, like they were the most fascinating thing ever. But really what was on my feet were only a pair of black peep-toe heels, nothing exciting. "The thing is I've already agreed to go to the prom with some one else." I lied.

Looking up to see his expression, I noticed his eyes had now also dropped to his own feet. "Oh....So who you going with?" He muttered and I could sense jealousy in his voice.

"Well it's a secret." I lied again. However I wasn't going with anyone, not like he was the first to ask, since half the population of guys in my year had beaten him to the chase, but I declined them all. I was waiting for Nigel to ask me, though I don't think he knew I was alive, perhaps I should ask him.

It was getting quite uncomfortable this deadly silence that sweapt across us. We were both now staring at the ground and fidgeting.

Luckily Lila my best friend came and saved the day. Grabbing my arm and pulling me in the direction of english. "See yar" I said over my shoulder as I was getting hauled away and then to Lila "Thanks, it was getting a little awkward over there."

"Why else would I be doing this." Her voice was babyish and raised at the end of the sentence.

I shrugged, as we entered our english class room.

Though we're maybe sixteen, our class acted like a cluster of wild animals. There were the monkeys at the back throwing paper areoplanes and shouting at the top of their lungs (a.k.a the immature boys) The lionesses groomed them selves in the front row (cheerleaders) The lions (jocks) hang around the lionesses gawping at there beauty and there was the bold eagle over in the corner observing all the other animals (Nigel).

I took my place next to Lila in the centre of the room and minutes later everybody stoped what they were doing and sat straight in their chairs, with their work infront of them. As the clock struck 10 am, Mrs Smith marched in, always in time for her lesson, with a bundle of books cradled in her arms.

Prom nights from Hell - Unseen

Story one.
Chapter one

Music engulfed the gym hall, where 2009's prom was being held. A mass of sixteen year olds swayed to the slow tune with their partners. Another throng of teens, hovered at the back of the gym where refreshments were held. A gentle chime of voices vibrated throughout the room. Most of whom were eager to dance and have a good time.

I stood at the end of the large table, mounded high with scrumptious food. Which I couldn't even eat.

Near by a couple of cheerleaders and jocks were deep in conversation, oblivious to my presence.

I was invisble, no one was conscious of my being. Asides from last year, that was another story. Last year I was the center of attention, I wasn't a cheerleader, but I was popular. I had many admirers, yet I didn't like anyone of them. Since I was in love with Nigel, who didn't seem to share my feelings. He was mysterious and handsome, with bleached blond hair, dangerous grey eyes, he was also very tall and muscular.

I gulped back tears, not like I could cry any way, but I felt the golf ball deep in my throat and the urge to cry. My past was terrible and I wished I could move on.

A girl (Who's name I don't know) came strolling over to where I was, staring at the bowl of crisps that lay on the table behind me. Before I could move out of her way, she went straight through me. I gasped at the tingling sensation that spread over my whole body and the girl shivered, wrapping her arms around her self.
